I arrived at the Vic Theater right around 6pm and saw twilightlore as I was walking up to the box office. Bought my ticket and headed on inside with twilightlore and his friend from Russia. We went and bought some beer, fucking $6 for a can of Heineken, what a fucking ripoff. No tip for the bartenders with these outrageous prices they were charging. The Berserker were already playing when we got inside. I have seen them three times now and they still sound like shit. I lump them into the same category as Slipknot,Mudvayne, etc. You know the one that's called we have no talent so lets use a gimmick and wear masks category. Twilightlore and his friend went upstairs to the balcony after The Berserker finished playing. Saw some other firends of mine and hung out with them and then Strapping Young Lad came out on stage. This was the first time that I have heard SYL and they didn't impress me at all. The music was fine but I just didn't like the guy that was singing. I don't know wwhat the big deal is about them cause I didn't think they were very good. That's just my opinion though. Dark Tranquillity were the next band to play. Their set was way too short, they only played for a half hour and during that time I think they only played five songs. They played Monochromatic Stains and they finished their set with Final Resistance. They sounded really good. I've just gotten into them recently and they are amazing. They will be back here in March or April from what one of the guys told me after the show. I'm looking forward to that. Naplam Death hit the stage next and they put on a great show. This was the first time that I have seen them in quite some time and they did not disapoint me. They played for an hour and rattled off a bunch of their songs during that timeframe. The pit was going strong throughout their set and I stayed away from those stray elbows. The Egyptologists were the final band of the night. Nile played for over an hour and it was intense throughout their set. I went up close to the stage later on in their set when they played Black Seeds of Vengeance. I fucking love that song. People were pitting throughout the whole set. They definitely put on a great live show and are one of the best death metal bands in the business. It was a great show eventhough the beer was expensive and some of the bands weren't that good. |
