Due to being stuck in rush hour traffic I wasn't able to see all of Enforsaken's set. Seeing how their from the Chicago area I pretty much have seen them quite a bit so it was no big deal if I missed their set. I was able to catch the last three songs from their set and they were: "Tales of Bitterness", "Vertigo Equilibrium", and "Dead Light, Dead Night". All of which are on their debut album from Olympic Records entitled, The Forever Endeavor. I recommend you check them out if you're a fan of Dark Tranquillity, Soilwork, or In Flames. You'd swear they were from Sweden and not from Chicago.
Next up were the "Northern Hyperblasters", Kataklysm. They played mostly songs from their last few CD's. From their new album, Serenity In Fire, they played the title track, "As I Slither", and "For All Our Sins". They also played from their Shadows and Dust album, "Where the Enemy Sleeps…". About half way through their set, Martin Maurais played a drum solo for a few minutes. He's one hell of a fast drummer. They played one hell of a show and it was too bad that they didn't get the slot on the Opeth tour so that they could play in front of a bigger audience.
Dying Fetus finished off the night with a great set of new songs mixed with older tunes. Some of the songs they played were: "Grotesque Impalement", "Praise the Lord (Opium for the Masses)" and "One Shot, One Kill". They definitely are one of the better death metal bands out there and they proved it with a killer performance.
Overall, it was a great show. All three bands put on a good show and the sound was really good. Probably the best show that I have seen at The Bottom Lounge.
