The show started at 6pm but I didn't get there until about 7:30 because I never heard of two of the bands that were playing,Contraption 7 and Psycho Scapegoat. I mainly wanted to see Fleshgrind and Macabre which is why I got there later. I picked up Fleshgrind's "Live in Germany" MCD and then got my ticket and headed on upstairs.

The place was pretty crowded when I got upstairs. Went up to the bar and got myself a MGD and then saw Rich from Fleshgrind and talked to him for a few minutes. He then had to go leave because they were going to be playing shortly. Saw some other guys that I know and hanged out with them for a bit. Spotted where Macabre was selling their merchandise and headed over there to pick up everyone's CD that they wanted. I bought their remastered Gloom CD for myself.

Made my way up front and to the right of the stage as Fleshgrind started to play. They sounded pretty good with their new drummer,Derek Hoffman(ex-Gorgasm). They played some new songs, and they also played,"Desire For Control","Burning Your World", and a few more songs as well. There was a pit going throughout their set and some chick was crowdsurfing. Then they finished off their set with my favorite song by them, "Holy Pedophile" off of their demo from 1993.

After their set I went back to the bar and then I went up to the balcony and saw some other guys that I know and hung out with them for awhile. Headed back down to the main floor and then had some woman come up to me and talk to me but she had a boyfriend, her boyfriend liked the shirt I was wearing. I had on a longsleeve Immolation shirt. The guy asked me where I got it from and I told him at their show and that I've seent them play several times. This guy said he was a huge fan of theirs but hasn't been able to see them play. Turns out that this guy also lives in Montana like the Rev. The guy is from Helena,MT and was in Chicago for the holidays. He said that he used to be a guitar player in the band,Meatshits, and before that a band called Infester. Chatted with him and his friends for quite a bit and then Macabre was getting ready to play so I moved closer to the stage.

Macabre started off their set with, "Zodiac", but Dennis the Menace,drummer,fucked up and they had to start the song over. They played for at least an hour maybe a little bit longer than that. The crowd was totally into their set. Other than the screwup at the beginning they sounded really good. Some of the songs that they played were:"Dog Guts","McMassacre","Rub a dub dub,three men in a tub","The Night Stalker","Holiday of Horrors". They played some new songs that will be on the upcoming Murder Metal CD, one of them is sung in German so I don't know the name of it, another one is called,"The Acid Vat Vampire". They then ended their set with,"Vampire in Dusseldorf". For an encore they came back out and played,"The Hillside Stranglers","Serial Killer",and"Ed Gein".

It was a great fucking show. I would have taken pictures but I need to get some new batteries for my camera plus I wasn't sure if they allowed cameras into the Metro. But now that I know that they do I'll make sure to bring it with me.
