Went and picked my friend up at around 5:30 and then we headed on into Chicago. For some strange reason I got onto the Kennedy Expressway,I usually take the Eisenhower when going to the HOB,and traffic was awful. Stop and go traffic for miles and miles.

We finally get into the city and I turned the wrong way so we had to turn around. Almost turned down a one way street going the wrong way. And I didn't even have anything to drink yet.

Finally arrive at the HOB at around 7 pm and valet parked the car. Get into the HOB and after being searched we go upstairs and headed off to the coat check. Then we headed off to the bar to get some brews. Saw Mike from Disinter there and talked to him for a bit. He said that we just missed Tapping the Vein so I don't know how they sounded. My friend headed off to the bathroom to smoke a bowl.

The place was jam packed with people and you could barely move. I saw one of the guys from The Chasm there and was talking to him for awhile. He asked me if I was going to be there on the 8th, their playing at Rockhouse USA on the 8th, and I told him hell yeah I'll be there.

Paradise Lost came on stage a little bit after 8pm and they played for about 45 minutes. This was the first time I have seen them since I saw them at the Oak Theater a decade ago. I liked their older material better than the newer stuff. They sounded good though. Some of the songs that they played were: "Mouth", "Two Worlds", "Mystify", and "I See Your Face".

There was about an hour wait until Opeth came out on stage and they ended up playing for an hour maybe a little more. The sound was alright, maybe a little muddy sounding but I thought they were good. This was the first time I have seen them perform live and I enjoyed it. I don't really know the set list because I've only just recently gotten into them. My friend would know which songs they played. I do know that they played the title track off of Deliverance though.

Overall it was a good show, I'm glad I went.
