Well, the flyer said that the doors open at 5 pm but as usual they didn't open on time. I got there around 5:45 pm and waited a half hour, out in the cold, until they opened the doors. Went up to the bar and got a MGD and then went to look at the merchandise for sale. Bought the new Immolation CD, "Unholy Cult", later on before I left. Enforsaken came on about 6:45 pm, a local band here, and they were good. They played for about 20 minutes. They are a melodic death metal band that just got signed to WWIII Records recently. Fans of In Flames, Soilwork, etc. should check them out. Their CD, "Embraced by Misery", is going to be re-released by WWIII in March 2003, and their going into the studio then to record their new material. They played some new songs and they also played "Dead Light, Dead Night" which is my fave. The Chasm were next to perform and as always they put on a great show. Good old death/thrash metal. They have a new CD that should be out shortly called "Conjuration of the Spectral Empire." They played some of their new material and ended their set with "No Mercy". Origin was next on the bill. Other than the problem with Paul's microphone at the beginning of the set, they were really good. The crowd was going wild but not as crazy as in June when the people tore the ceiling down at Rubes. They are one of the hardest working bands out there, this was the third time I've seen them here in Chicago this year. Definitely keep on improving. The Berzerker from down under went on next. I don't really know too much about them other than they play wearing masks. I sauntered back to the bar and sucked down a few Becks. Vader has arrived! One of my favorite death metal bands and they fucking kicked ass. They played for about an hour. They played some new songs from "Revelations", "Reign Forever World", and "Black to the Blind". Well, and other songs that I don't recall due to my brain swimming in beer Immolation finished off the night and played for an hour. They played new songs from "Unholy Cult" album, they also played "Nailed to Gold", "No Jesus,No Beast", and "Lost Passion". These guys are fucking awesome live! This was a fucking great show, talked to Bob Vigna from Immolation, Paul from Origin, got my picture taken with Peter from Vader. And was over the hot Polish women that were there. Going to have to learn some Polish, hehe. Overall, an excellent night, now my neck hurts from all the headbanging. |
