Peter: Since most people outside of Atlanta aren't
familiar with Zoroaster, could you give a brief history
of the band?
Brent: Zoroaster formed in late 2003 out of
the need for sedation by low frequencies and high volumes.
Peter: What does the name Zoroaster mean and in what
way does it apply to the music?
Brent: Zoroaster was an old Iranian/Pesian prophet
that was the founder of the first monotheistic religion.
He is heavily written about in Masonic and other occult
literature. Some of our lyrics are occult based.
Peter: What are some influences on your music?
Brent: The normal stuff...Life
Peter: In looking at the artwork on the self-titled MCD,
I notice that much of the drawings are done in a rather
archaic style. Do you feel that the art accurately reflects
the music?
Brent: Yes
Peter: Could you explain how the record deal with Battle
Kommand Records came about?
Brent: Blake Judd the owner of Battle Kommand
saw us play a show and asked to sign us that night after
the performance. We are a force to be reckoned with live.
Live is our bread and butter.
Peter: Since Zoroaster hasn't really done many shows
outside of the southeastern United States, for what band
would you most like to be the opening act?
Brent: Any and all heavy bands who are willing
to hit the road hard. We did a couple of dates on the
west coast in June '06 with Nachtmystium
Peter: Are there any forthcoming shows that you would
like to inform the readers about?
Brent: Sept. 7 with Boris @ the Earl in Atlanta
and Sept. 8 with Jucifer @ the Star Bar in Atlanta. We're
finalizing plans for an east coast tour in Oct/Nov.
Peter: When can people expect the full-length album and
will it be anything like the MCD?
Brent: Jan/Feb 07. We have new material recorded
already. We've been discussing a split with Southern Lord/Battle
Kommand that would come out before the full length. Both
will be in the same ballpark as the previous recordings.
Peter: I'd like to close the interview with the fact
that you actually had a local promotional deal with Pabst
Blue Ribbon. What came out of the promotional deal did you
get free beer out of it?
Brent: Yeah, we got free beer and some press
Peter: Thank you for taking the time to answer the questions.
Any words of wisdom you want to leave for the readers?
Brent: If you like the CD, you really should
catch us live coming soon to a town near you.
