Chrome Division's mantra is "Beer, broads, and Beelzebub." That should
be of little surprise, considering that they play a style of biker
metal and that one of the members of the band is none other than Dimmu
Borgir's Shagrath, who ditches the corpse paint and vocals to handle
guitars for Chrome Division. The result is a blatant Motorhead worship that
actually sounds great.
Chrome Division begins with the instrumental Doomsday Overture that
signifies that an onslaught is about to happen. Throughout the next
eleven tracks, everything you would want in "good ol' rock 'n roll" comes to
past, especially when it comes to the vocals. The vocals are handled
by Tony Guz, who sounds almost like Lemmy, and the guitars have more
than their share of memorable riffs. However, they're not the only things
that make the album great. The overall lyrical content in songs such
as Trouble with the Law, Serial Killer, and When the Shit hits the Fan
prove that Chrome Division isn't holding anything back. The only real
letdown would come from those who are expecting a clone of Dimmu Borgir,
but other than that, there are no real major problems with Chrome
Division's debut album.
The mantra that Chrome Division has fits about as well as anyone could
imagine. Straight up biker metal executed in a no nonsense fashion,
Doomsday Rock 'N Roll is everything people lust for rolled into audio
form. This album is clearly not for the morally right or for the posers.
If you have friends over and have lots of beer and women, remember to
put this album in and go wild.
