Every once in a while, there comes a band that comes out with an album so horrible that you almost don't want to put a review togehter for it. Corprophemia's self-titled debut is one of those albums. Everything about it screams the word horrendous to the point that you almost want to run a rustey nail onto the CD surface.

I cannot say where to begin with this absolute tragedy(no pun intended), but I'll give it a shot. From the very first note, it becomes clear that Corprophemia did not have a plan going into the studio to record this album. None of the three songs on the album do anything to distingush itself from one another: no memorable riffs, vocals that almost sound like they're saying the same thing in a different order, and drumming that has that recycled sound. However, that's only the beginning; it gets even worse. The vocals are barely audible and have a habit of being unintelligible while the drums have that makeshift sound in which metal cans are being used and seemingly no cymbals are involved. Adding to the problems is the bad overall production values that amplify the problems and the final reslut is a rather boring death metal album that you will soon want to forget.

Reviewing this album was not an easy task. Then again, neither was sitting through this album trying to find something good to write about it. I guess the only good thing, if you want to call it a good thing, is that Corprophemia's self-titled debut is only seven minutes long. Sadly, those are seven minutes I will never have back. If Corprophemia wants to be taken seriously, a good first step would be to invest some money in music lessons because this mess won't cut it with even the most basic death metal fan.
