Despite the fact that the promotional literature called Eciton melodic death metal, one would be hard pressed to find much melody here. Eciton play straight up brutal, thrashing, technical death metal.

Most death metal pretty much sounds the same to me, so I can’t speak for originality, but these guys are very good at what they do. They play very tight and the production is awesome. There is traces of S.O.D. here and there giving the album a nice stomp to it.

The lyrics aren’t the brightest on the planet. Here’s an example from “The Excitement” – “I’ll cut your fucking throat, I’ll gut you like a goat, your stinking blood will float.” Hmmm… still smarter than 99% of the gore metal bands out there (as a note, Eciton do not play gore metal).

There’s really not much else that I can comment on here aside from the artwork, which is pretty cool. Death metal fans should like this, but probably not many others.
