We
Will Take You with Us
[The End Records] For all of you Symphonic Goth Metal lovers out there, you can't get much better than Epica's forthcoming release "We Will Take You With Us". Mark Jansen, former guitarist/songwriter of "After Forever" formed this band in early 2003, wanting to explore a more varied sound which in this writers opinion, he has indeed achieved. The varied sounds and cultural interest of Epica reflects an almost Operatic mix of vocals keys and guitar. The young female vocalist, Simone Simons can hit the highest of notes with unwavering ease. Coen Janssen brings excellent Symphonic keyboards to the table, along with the dark guitar and bass of Mark Jansen, Ad Sluijter and Yves Huts. Jeroen Simons rounds off their gothic sound with solid and outstanding drums. Epica was voted "Best Newcomer" in Holland in 2003 and the CD "Consign to Oblivion" hit number 12 on the charts in Europe. Epica have a peaceful allure and Gothic darkness that is penetrating to say the least. Their heavier songs are provocative and their ballads are as tender as a Symphonic Goth Ballad could possibly be. Personally, I'd love to see this Nordic group tour the U.S. with, say Nightwish or/and Lacuna Coil. Look for Epica's new CD, "We Will Take You With Us" in August and Rock on readers...ROCK ON! |
