Six Feet Beneath The Nation
[Half-Hearted Records]

Destined to become the next big metalcore hit on myspace, With Daggers Drawn have released their debut full length entitled Six Feet Beneath the Nation. It's tough to find information on them since their official site (www.withdaggersdrawn.com) only has a picture of the cover art and a coming soon message. That's understandable I suppose, making a good website can take time, so I won't fault them on it. So I resorted going to their myspace page, which is truly unfortunate. The page is hardly legible since they have a logo which permanently stays in the middle of the screen and is the same color as the font, brilliant. That page also had nothing more to say than the press info sheet that came with this cd which is a little light on actual info anyway.

And the CD, right... It's not good. But let me flesh that out a little. It's not that these guys are bad musicians or necessarily even bad songwriters. There are moments of thrashy, deathy goodness sparsed throughout the cd and even some decent screaming vocals from time to time from Jason Feinen. But then the breakdowns, failed attempts at emotionally charged clean vocals and just about every other metalcore convention gets busted out the album heads straight back to a poor try for myspace supremacy. And the lyrics, dear god the lyrics are horrendous. I don't generally place too much importance on something like lyrics, but these are especially bad. Don't waste your time.
