About
Angel: My name is Angel, and I
was born unto Metal (hence how I became Metal Angel). Well, perhaps
not literally, but I was influenced at an early age. In fact, at the
age of seven, I can remember hanging out with my older, male cousins
while they were jamming out to Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden,
Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Motorhead and such. Out
of 17 cousins, three of them lived next door to us for years, and were
about 10 - 15 years older than me. Being one out of the only three females
of the clan of 17, I guess they thought that was cool, because they
let me stick around. These three guys turned me on to so many bands,
so many cool and new sounds, that I found myself craving to hear more.
As the years went by, I could hardly wait to get home from school on
days when I knew they would be visiting a few of the local record stores,
to see what albums they would have waiting. These were great times in
my life, and if I could go back and re-live any part of them, I would
without hesitation return to those times.
When
I was in high school, I began getting into my own bands. By this time
I was checking out more or less the hair bands of the 80's, as well
as other types of Heavy Metal. I loved this era, and I had a very hard
time giving it up in later years and moving on (not that I actually
have). I never really had many close friends to share this desire with
at the time. Most of them could care less for this type of music. They
would claim that it was rude, nasty, and just too damned loud. *evil
grin* I had many chances to go to concerts in my teen years, but
the music most of my friends were listening to disgusted me to no end,
and they wanted no part in seeing bands that I wanted to see either.
So needless to say, there was not very many shows that I got a chance
to see back then. My bedroom was a living nightmare of wall to wall
posters, vinyl album jackets, chain belts, bandanas and such running
up to and including most of my ceiling (that I could reach that is).
Some of my favorite bands during this time were, #1.......Motley Crue!
I lived for this band! I had no choice but to buy everything they ever
put out. Other bands I loved would include, Wasp, AC/DC, Cinderella,
Dio (\m/), Dokken, Krokus, Def Leppard, Helloween, Warlock, Mercyful
Fate, Ozzy, Ratt, Poison, and Savatage to name a few. I rarely had any
other thoughts on my mind except metal…and to this day, I have not changed.
I live it, I breathe it, I sleep it, and now, I bring life into this
site to share my love and devotion for it, to you…..those people that
will be taking the time to read and look ever this website, and hopefully
grow to love it as much as I have loved making it.
I first
came upon the internet world in 1995 when I was in college completing
my Bachelors Degree in Business. The school I was attending finally
got connected, and I became.... an internet junkie. After a few months
of playing around on it, I was finally beginning to see how this World
Wide Web shit worked, and I have not stopped learning it to this day.
Once I finally got the hang of it all, and actually figured out how
to USE a search engine, my very first word I typed in was, believe it
or not......METAL! Holy shit the stuff that popped up! I was in
heaven dudes! All of these beautiful, informative metal sites, and just
a click away. I was drooling, my head was pounding, my heart racing,
and all I could think was, "I want one of these!" So I set out on my
journey to learn it. For a long time I thought I had bitten off more
then I could chew. I bought my first web building books, "Creating Web
Pages For Dummies" and "The Complete Idiot's Guide To FrontPage 2000"
(I hated FrontPage, and still refuse to use it to this day). It was
all very overwhelming at first, and time and time again I let it get
the best of me. I would start on it, then stop, start and stop some
more. Then I read about these online Web Design classes (www.lvsonline.com),
and I signed up. This is when I became more interested and serious about
finishing this website. After taking their HTML I, HTML II, CSS, Flash,
and a couple of PSP 7 classes, I had gained enough knowledge to begin
my own Metal Website. Needless to say, I have worked on this site and
stopped it more times then I can count. I began the first REAL pages
in early 2001. Later that same year was when I made our Messege Board.
An online friend in Belgium I had met around 1999 helped come up with
the name 'Metal Coven'. We knew it was originally to be done by two
chicks that was 100% devoted to Metal, and a bit on the *cough*
witchy side, so the name fit like a glove. That partnership
didn't pan out, so I'm going it solo.
After
being on the net awhile, I began hearing and reading about a lot of
other metal bands, bands that I've never before heard of. Extreme and
underground metal that would grow on me and take over my very existence.
I joined many metal forums, and met a great deal of metal heads over
the years, that I call my dear friends. Many have influenced me on the
more extreme path by getting me hooked on Black Metal, Death Metal and
other types that I had no idea what they were at the time. The very
first Black Metal bands I first heard were Rotting Christ and Samael.
And to this day, they are still my favorites. Since then, it has become
an endless road of learning and craving more. Nothing in life satisfies
or pleases me as much as music, and the only type of music that interests
me is Metal, in many forms, but still metal. To this day, I am still
finding out about new metal bands, and I predict I'll continue to do
so until my last breath...
