About Robin:   I started out in music in the 6th grade (1969) taking guitar lessons from my friend Billy’s sister for her senior year project. She taught me the basics and a few easy songs but I wanted more so I continued lessons with John Burik and John Pfeiffer. A year later I started going to concerts with my guitar teachers who both had bands (John Burik was in Rook and John Pfeiffer was in Circus Of The Sun). We soon discovered I had a talent for the business end of music such as booking the bands for the area high schools dances each week. John and John were good friends with the local promoter here in Cincinnati, Belkin Productions (they’re still here putting on killer shows!) and we’d go pick up the bands at the airport, etc. I went to just about every concert and hung out with the bands backstage and at the hotels (ahhhhh….those were the good old days!).

Keeping my love for music on the back burner, I got into photography and drag racing with a pro-stock team back in the early 80’s. This lead to my landing a job as a writer and photographer for River City Music News (based out of Louisville Kentucky) for about 10 years and then HiJinx Magazine (based out of Indianapolis Indiana) also contracted my services as a writer and photographer and hosted many shows and put on battle of the bands and had guest judges including Pamela Anderson when she was the Tool-Time Girl. Since these were both free publications, the cost of keeping them going became too much for the owners, so they bid farewell to bringing the news of the music scene to the tri-state (Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky) area. I went into “retirement” in 1997 but still kept in touch with many of the bands I had covered over the years. Fast forward to 2005 and bored with writing erotic bedtime stories (I still do it, just not as much), and hearing all this great metal music coming back, I wondered why there wasn’t a lot of press out there about it. So I created my own website (http://MystikMusic.blogspot.com) and came back to the music scene stronger than ever, still taking kick~ass live action photos at concerts for both local/unsigned and national bands and writing up reviews of the shows.

By joining the staff here at Metal Coven, I will be able to bring you, the fans, interviews with the men of metal and rockstars you want to know about, things you might not know about them and adding my own personal touch due to the friendships I’ve made with them over the years. I hope you all enjoy reading my work.
